Saul Junction Marina (Mon 22nd July)
We were off for 930 to pick up Matthew ready to go to the boat, Charlotte and Amelia got up when McDonalds breakfast was mentioned, they ate it in the car on the way to get Matt. It had taken a lot of pushing and shoving and manoeuvring things round to get all our stuff and space for 5 people and two dogs in the car but we did it. It was cool at home but got hotter and hotter as we reached Gloucester, it was 32 degrees when we arrived at the Marina. We had a bet on the way, 10p each as to what time the Baby Cambridge would arrive? I said 3, Charlotte 4, Amelia 6 and Derek 7, needless to say Charlotte won the pot of 40p, Congratulations to the Happy Couple and welcome Baby, 8lb 6 oz what a whopper. We parked at the end of the pontoon and unpacked all the bags, Matt, Charlotte, Amelia and Derek took it to the boat I directed traffic!!! We had lunch, fed Matt ready for his long trip back home and then I started to put everything in its place on the boat. It was really really hot by now, the plants on top weren’t too bad, but I gave them a prune and watered them as well. Charlotte and Amelia tried to catch dragonflies and fish, we caught a few dragonflies but no fish. Charlotte dangled her feet in the water and said it was really nice and cooling. The swans and 5 little cygnets (they had hatched whilst we were away) came to visit plus lots of interbred ducks of various colours, Matt saw a young grebe and a Heron flew overhead. Derek mended the bath pump with the part we had ordered and got delivered to home, we got tele and then watched a DVD after a late tea. It had a little rain at about 8 30, but there was still a red sky forecasting good weather tomorrow. We may go to Slimbridge tomorrow or straight to Gloucester, leave it to kids to decide. Matt text to say he was home for 6, safe and well.
