Gloucester Docks (Thurs 25th July)

We were quite warm in the night, all went to bed 11ish, it was a bit noisy at the bar but not too bad.  Derek up as usual, I couldn’t get a shower till the kids got up as we needed to put generator on to warm up the water.  I had a cuppa in bed and lazed around till they climbed into our bed at 8 30ish.  Derek went for the paper to the little shop in the dock, and we all decided to have breakfast whilst the water was warming, and we planned our day.  Me and the kids were going into town, Derek to the supermarket.  We finally went to town, it was really hot but breezy near the water, scorching in town, it was about 11 30.  We had a very exhausting shopping session but kids got to see the shops they wanted, Primark and Body Shop mostly.  We all got a bit of something, Charlotte got a full outfit, jeggings, blouse and pumps, Amelia got a dress and a top, I got a t shirt and the kids got some smellies, so all in all not too bad. We had a McDonalds at a very busy and if were honest, slightly grotty place, went to WHSmith and got some mags and back to the boat for 3ish, where it was lovely and breezy so a lot more comfortable.  Derek had stocked the fridge and we all had a rest and showed him our purchases.  He said it had been a busy day, boat wise and he had watched boats coming and going through the lock, he also had a word with the lockie about tomorrow and solved the riddle of why the lock seems so slow to fill and empty, one of the paddles on the gate is broken so it takes a lot longer. After a rest Charlotte, Amelia and I took the rubbish to the bins and had a walk to the Flea Market shop I found just at the beginning of town, we had a mooch and I got a lovely Carlton Ware thistle shaped dish and a little brown honey pot (shaped like a bee hive, with bees on it)  £9 50 altogether, it was a bit more than I would normally pay but they are both really nice.  We got back to the boat and had our Indian Takeways, Korma for me and the kids and Jalfrezi for Derek, it was quite nice, Sainsburys special.  Charlotte  got permission to get the shoes she fancied up town, from Mummy, so we will be up bright and early to get there before we fill up with water and head off down the lock and on to Tewkesbury.
