Gloucester (Wed 3rd July)

We walked into town yesterday after a rest, it was hard work as our legs were tired, it seemed a bit rundown with lots of shops to let but there were lots of young people obviously college students.  We saw the clanging time piece over the Jewellers, its like the figures you find on a steam organ, its placed over the top of a jewellers which has been there for a long time, I remembered it from when we came here a long long time ago. We had a coffee then wend or way back to the boat, Derek went onto the boat and I went to little Antique centre just behind us over the lock.  I managed to find a 1950s plastic potty chair, complete with potty and 2 little bowls, miniature size of course.  We got BBC on the tele so I could watch Holby City and do some sewing whilst Derek did some snoring.
We didn’t have too bad a night, Jess and Oli got Derek up at 3 30.  Jess has a slightly jippy tummy, too much fruit and boat I think!!!  Security guards were patrolling all night, Derek crossed their path as he walked round the dock with the dogs. A couple of boats were moving off today.  The seagulls are here all day and night there were some strange squawks in the night.  Derek went to town to get a HDMI?? Cable for tele.  I went to Antique centre, via the Quays, lovely shopping outlet.  Derek met me for a coffee and cake (told you its compulsory, it was!!?) I got some bits and pieces from the works, one of my favourite shops. We had a walk round the other side of the quays which lead us to the Antique Centre.  Derek went back to the boat, the other boats around us should have left so we will be all alone, just as we like it really, surely it wasn’t something we had said or done!!!  The Antique Centre is lovely, full of bright shiny cabinets with almost anything you could imagine, it goes from the sublime to the ridiculous as far as prices are concerned, there is something  for everyone.  It even has a cafe for you to stop and think about what you’ve seen and convince yourself you really need that something special you saw on your browse round.  I of course found some little bargains, Dolls house bits and pieces, 1950’s plastic for the boat dolls house and home, I even rescues a little Alsatian (he’s a pepper pot without his Mrs Salt?) total spent £5 50, sure that wont break the bank.  Went back for lunch to the boat, sorted my purchases round, did some washing, the furniture was a bit grubby, plus 6 jumpers? Phew exhausting, see what you think from the pics. !! We gave the dogs a good walk, Derek had found a place across the lock gates behind the warehouses where we could let them have a run, they do run around a bit when they get the scent of a rabbit.  We decided to have tea out, so sourced the most reasonable eatery. It was the pub at the entrance to the docks, we had steak and all the trimmings.  We walked the long way round back to the boat, passed the lift bridge which we will go under tomorrow and saw some lovely boats being built and renovated, they’re ocean going sailing boats not NBs and there was also a Fire boat which seems to be being renovated, its beautiful, bright red with touches of black and white, it shines brightly in the evening sun.  Back at the boat we watched tele.
