Patch Bridge (Slimbridge) - Sharpness (Sun 14th July)

Left at 09:15 arrived at 10:45.

The side hatch trick worked again and we weren’t effected too much by the heat, Jess however was up a few times, she had a jippy tummy again, too much fruit and too hot for her I think.  Its a warm one again, more tidying round making plans for the kids coming, rearranging seating etc.  Filling up with water, get paper, empty bins and then moving on to Sharpness for a day and a night, then back to get diesel tomorrow and on to Saul Marina to wait for Matt to collect the wondering parents and dogs for home on Tuesday.  I cant wait to see all the kids and my wilderness of a garden, dying to get my hands on it, not sure Derek feels the same about the garden but we cant wait to celebrate our Darling Isabellas 1st Birthday.  Amelia is moving on to Senior School too in September.  All the kids have got wonderful reports, well done Charlotte, Niamh, Amelia,Sophia, Sam and Claudia!!  Claudia even got a report at 3 years of age, I’m not sure but she may be going to school full time after September. Niamh got a special award for her art work this year, it was presented with other awards by a local councillor on Niamhs Birthday.  So well done all you gorgeous Grandchildren, Granny and Grandad couldn’t be prouder and love you all very much.  There are quite a few NBs moving on the water this morning, all seem to be going the other way again.??  We got to Purton, those lovely houses again, the two I mentioned before where looking pristine in the morning sun. I cant remember It I mentioned it before but the first house(my favourite) has a cruiser at the bottom of the garden “Crispy Duck” now I think thats quite funny, Lovely home and garden and a sense of humour too!!!!! This really is a lovely village, waterside at least.  We passed Big Saba, the large sailing ship that went by yesterday and NB Jura, which we have been crossing for a while now.  Saba is white with lovely woodwork and Jura is black and very shiny, they were moored together and they both sparkled in their own way at the side of the waterway.  A nasty smell of petrol/or diesel came over the air as we got nearer to Sharpness, it looked like a rainbow on the water but what a pong, Derek said it was here last time we came.  I forgot to mention but at Purton, next to a long line of white painted terraced houses, there is a long fenced off piece of garden, part of the fence has been removed and a glass or Perspex panel put in, behind it there appears to be a little village, I will try to remember to stop Derek tomorrow and investigate further. ??? We arrived at Sharpness and got into a line of cruisers and NBs next to the wall overlooking the estuary.  A Few very large cruisers came down the water from Sharpness Dock, Derek said they must have come up the River Severn on the high tide, they moored alongside one another and had picnics in the sunshine, probably discussing their adventure.  I finished my paintings despite the heat, well I think theyre  finished, so will not varnish them yet in case I want to add something.  We had a lovely tea, cooked by Derek, of Gammon, egg, peas and even chips, proper ones not oven baked, hows that for a treat.  Settling down to watch the White Queen tonight and possibly the new episode of Law and Order UK (on ITV+1) as we really like it, we don’t have a recorder on the boat so hence the+1, smart hey.
