Left at 09:30
arrived at 12:50.
Not a bad nights
sleep up to a cool overcast day. 2
Broadbeams had been tied up on the visitors moorings just up from our mooring, they had been undone in the
night and were over the other side of the canal near the park.Bowman (the
skipper of Rindell) decided to bring
them back, he rang BW and told them what he was doing and that there was no
padlock of the gates to the Sanitary Station, they were on their way.
We filled up with water and when the two boats were back on their
moorings and the BW man was talking to Bowman we set off for the Pedestrian
swing bridge hoping to open it. I opened the casing of the controls and there
were so many different stuck on instructions that I asked Derek to come and
have a look, we were to open this one and then do turn and turn around withNB
Rindell all the way to Keadby. It took
Derek a while, the gates at each end wouldn’t lock at first and when it did
start to work the light that should flash wasn’t working either. !!!!! We let Rindell through and then tried
to shut the bridge and open the gates at
either end, no such luck? A pedestrian
went down to the Sanitary Station and the BW guy came and said the bridge lock
was broken pointed a magic machine at it (Dr Who style) and hey presto it worked. Finally on the way for 10. As we were on our way we passed 20 or more
wind turbines, moving very slowly the were like giant aliens, apparently
further on there were some earthworks where they are to put up 40 turbines. We passed one of the canal side houses which
is right on the road at the side of a
swing bridge, it has been renovated beautifully and last time we came the lady
who owns it had started rearing pigs, progress, she is now selling her rare
breed pigs for the table? We had a free pass through one of the bridges as the
BW tug was coming through so they did it for us, thanks BW guy. We arrived to start the queue for The Trent tomorrow, thats us and Rindell ! out at 6 30 a.m. so up at 5
agh!!!! Derek had a nap, I stuffed a
bear and then did a bit of rose painting on the back doors and panels, topped
the water up as no water till Newark on Wednesday, then had late tea and
watched TV.
